Lewes,
DE—
Construction on Cadbury at Lewes, a new continuing care
retirement community (CCRC), continues to move forward. In order
to update future residents of the 275,000 s.f. CCRC on the
progress, Cadbury at Lewes hosted an open house for their
charter members at the Cadbury office on King’s Highway on June
21.
The CCRC site is located just minutes from the Cadbury office
on 35 prime acres just off of Gills
Neck Road. Cadbury at Lewes will be the first CCRC in
Lewes, and the second managed by Cadbury Senior Services, whose
flagship community is in Cherry Hill, NJ. This new continuing
care retirement facility will include 48 independent living
cottages, two wood frame buildings with 84 apartments, a
community center, and a structural steel health center. The
96-bed health center will house 31 assisted beds, 14 dementia
beds, and 51 skilled beds.
Project team members from Nason Construction, the construction
manager for Cadbury at Lewes, were at the open house to answer
questions from nearly 50 charter members who attended the event.
Ground was broken on the site in late 2005, and over the last
few months site development has been completed. Currently,
construction crews are installing the utility infrastructure and
building foundations and have commenced work on the first
structures. The early phases of the project should be complete
in the spring of 2007 with final phases completed late that
summer.
Cadbury at Lewes will feature a state-of-the-art community
center with a myriad of activities available. Residents will
have priority access to a full continuum of on-site healthcare,
assisted living apartments with a secure memory support area, as
well as skilled nursing services.
In addition, Cadbury at Lewes will offer an array of amenities
including the following: walking and biking paths, gardening
areas, indoor lap pool, all-purpose auditorium, meditation room,
library, casual and formal dining, convenience shop, art studio,
fitness studio, salon and barber services, woodworking shop, and
more.
Nason is also constructing an $8 million, 62,000 square foot
independent living facility in Ocean Pines, MD as well as the
new $25 million, 105,000 square foot Delaware Veterans Home in
Milford, DE, which will be a skilled care nursing facility for
local veterans.
