Three months ago the second floor
of the year old medical office building at 142 Atlantic Avenue
in Millville, Del. was an empty shell. Now, Halpern Eye
Associates, located on the first floor, has a new neighbor –
Peninsula Regional Medical Center.
The new
Peninsula Regional Primary Care – Ocean View Family Medicine and
Peninsula Heart Center opened its doors to patients for the
first time the last week of July.
The
outpatient center enables Peninsula Regional to bring family
medical services and their world-class heart program to a new
area in Delaware that has not been served in the past.
Nason
Construction, locally based in Salisbury, Md., managed the
nearly $500,000 fast track project, while Becker Morgan Group,
also Salisbury based, provided architectural services. Nason
Construction effectively coordinated the 5,900 s.f. fit-out so
that the new practice would be opened for patients by Peninsula
Regional’s goal date of July 24.
“It was our
[Peninsula Regional] first experience working with Nason
Construction, and we feel they did an excellent job for us,”
said Bruce Patterson, Director of Facilities Management for
Peninsula Regional Medical Center.
The new
facility houses 10 patient exam rooms for year round primary
care physician services. These will include preventative
medicine, pediatrics, dermatological conditions, and outpatient
surgical services. In addition, the new location will also
accommodate an extension of Peninsula Regional’s award winning
Peninsula Heart Center with cardio-thoracic (heart and lung)
surgeons and cardiologists providing consultations and cardiac
diagnostic testing procedures.
“The
population growth of the area supports the need to have family
medicine services available 12 months a year. [We] are extremely
privileged to be a part of this community,” said Alan Newberry,
President/CEO of Peninsula Regional Medical Center. Peninsula
Regional is based in Salisbury with Sussex County offices in
Dagsboro and Laurel, Del.
