Nason Construction Completes Red Clay Consolidated School District Renovation
Multi-Phased, Multi-Year Project Finishes as School Year Begins
Wilmington, DE, September 14, 2009: Nason Construction this week completed a multi-year, multi-phased renovation at the Red Clay Consolidated School District’s Cab Calloway School of the Arts and the Charter School of Wilmington. The renovation of the three-story building that houses both schools totaled $20.5 million and was completed over multiple phases to accommodate the academic calendar. Students began a new school year this week with the project substantially complete.
The phased construction was managed so that at most, only seven rooms are under renovation at any given time. This allows for full accommodation of all 1,800 students and faculty, and avoids the need to utilize trailers as classrooms. Logistics and thorough
communication have proven to be extremely important while coordinating construction in a fully operational learning environment.
“Nason Construction is pleased to have been a part of the Red Clay Consolidated School District renovation program at Cab Calloway and Wilmington Charter School,” said Nason Chief Executive Officer, Thomas W. Nason, II. “These renovations enhance the learning atmosphere of the school, giving students a better opportunity to learn and grow into the community at large.”
The project included football stadium renovations, science lab renovations, architectural improvements, plumbing, ADA upgrades, replacement of the HVAC system, new power distribution system, fire suppression, new fire detection system and more.
