University of Delaware Opens New Primary and Pre-School

Students will have the latest in educational technology and service learning

Nason Construction recently joined the University of Delaware in a grand opening ceremony for the University’s Laboratory Preschool and College School. Approximately 300 students, faculty, staff and parents witnessed University of Delaware President Patrick T. Harker cut the gold and blue paper chain that was created by the school’s students to signify the traditional grand opening ribbon.

The schools are a part of the College of Education and Public Policy, which allows college students to observe students in a true educational environment. This affords the opportunity for research, service learning for aspiring new teachers and a rich learning environment for the students to come together.

“Nason and the University of Delaware have had a long history of working together on various educational projects,” said Nason Chief Executive Officer, Thomas W. Nason, II. “We are honored to be a part of the changing face of Delaware education.”

The Laboratory Preschool is an early learning education center for children ages two through four, consisting of three separate classrooms. Each classroom is equipped with microphones and cameras as well as an observation window. The College School is a primary school for students in grades one through eight and consists of nine classrooms uniting technology and education for the students, with smartboards in each room and a computer for each student.
