Description

Nason Construction was the construction manager for Villanova University’s new Davis Center for Athletics and Fitness. This new 53,000 square foot recreational facility houses two fully separated varsity basketball courts with locker rooms, training spaces, cinema, sports medicine area and coaches’ offices. Additionally, the building houses 12,000 square feet of student recreational and fitness space.

The project also includes the complete development of a parking area east of the Villanova Pavilion and included a new underground water detention system. In order to maintain emergency and pedestrian access through the construction site to the Pavilion for numerous events, Nason worked with Villanova to create and maintain a logistics plan. The tight site constraints and close proximity to the Pavilion are two challenges that the Nason team faced during construction.

The Davis Center provides a training facility dedicated to the men’s and women’s basketball teams. The training facilities include hydrotherapy pools that were constructed above an underground pond with groundwater and rock.

The new facility includes environmentally friendly energy-saving motion sensor lights. Additionally, over 250 trees were planted around the new building.
