Description

Nason Construction provided design-build services for an Organizational Maintenance Shop (OMS) for the Military Department at the Salisbury Armory. The OMS is a vehicle maintenance garage with four over-sized service bays and an eight ton overhead crane which is utilized to lift truck engines and other heavy equipment around the shop.

Adjacent to the shop is administrative offices totaling 6,000 square feet, a locker room with showers, as well as tool and supply, battery, and communication/electronic repair shops; bulk POL equipment and flammable materials storage areas; lube and inspection racks; and, a military vehicle loading ramp.

The structure is pre-engineered with brick and block walls supporting metal trusses. An energy efficient geothermal HVAC system provides heating and cooling to the facility.

Sustainable/green features include the use of recycled building materials such as ceiling tiles, carpets and wood products. Implementing a construction waste management program was also a feature of building to LEED Silver specifications which was an important aspect of the job. The building features a skylight tube system in several parts of the building to provide natural light to the interior spaces without windows.
